Frequently
Asked Questions
|
Massage
can help release muscle tension and pain, improve
circulation, increase joint flexibility and reduce
stress. It can also promote faster healing of injured
muscular tissue, improve posture and reduce blood
pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to
promote better sleep, improve concentration and create
an overall sense of well-being.
Swedish Massage is the most common form of
massage. It is suggested if you're in need of relaxation
and stress relief. It combines long, flowing strokes
with a light to medium pressure.
Deep Tissue Massage
is indicated when a client has been experiencing
muscle tension, pain or has a lot of knots due to
spasm and toxin build-up. It uses deep, concentrated
strokes and compression with a deep pressure.
Reflexology is
massage of the feet, hands and/or ears. Stimulates
corresponding areas in the body.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses
special techniques to help increase lymph circulation,
helping to rid the body of toxins and waste materials
and help stimulate the immune system. |
| What
To Expect During A Massage Or Bodywork Session |
| Your
session will take place in a comfortable, quiet room.
Soft music may be played to help you relax. After the
therapist has left the room, undress to your comfort
level, remove all jewelry and lie down on the table
under the sheet. You will be properly draped at all
times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area
being worked on will be exposed.
The therapist will
knock before re-entering the room. Lotion, oil or
cream will be used to permit your muscles to be worked
on without causing excessive friction to the skin.
Please make sure to alert the therapist of any skin
allergies before your session begins.
In general, your
session may start with rocking and broad, flowing
strokes which help to calm your nervous system and
relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes
relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased. You
should communicate immediately if you feel any
discomfort. |
